Brief plot summary
Act I
The film opens with a blurry camera that pans and tilts across the space. Although the screen in blurry, we can make out a silhouette of a male figure (Louis) walking down a pathway. The camera is positioned in wide shot and although it is moving, the male figure is kept as central as possible. As the camera shifts in an out of focus, we hear (as a voiceover), sounds of a couple fighting contrasted with laughter and happiness. Also, employ, a heart-beat like beat tos how panic. The use of sound intends to create binary opposition, setting up conflict, and making it clear that the male figure is in a state of inner conflict. We cut to a close up of Louis’ face: the background is blurry and his performance is emphasised. When we cut to close up, the sound completely cuts and it is silent. After a moment, there is a piercing but quiet ringing and we cut to an eye-level establishing shot. The camera is shaky as it moves with him. At this point, I will use mise-en-scene and establish recurring motifs of imagery
